Prohibited & Restricted Items
Last updated: July 2026
Illustrative, not exhaustive. Muffin Market™ is a local marketplace for business vendors. Vendors remain solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws, licenses, and taxes. This policy describes additional platform rules for what may not be listed on Muffin Market. The categories below are representative examples — we may remove any listing that violates applicable law, our Terms and Conditions, or this policy, whether or not it appears on this page.
1. Always prohibited
The following are never allowed on Muffin Market (including but not limited to):
- Illegal goods, services, or activity under applicable law in your jurisdiction (including India, the United States, or local rules where you operate).
- Stolen, counterfeit, pirated, or fraudulently obtained goods.
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or paraphernalia intended for illegal drug use.
- Child sexual abuse material, exploitation of minors, or content that sexualizes minors.
- Human trafficking, organ sale, or similar exploitation.
- Hate speech, harassment, credible threats, or content that promotes violence against individuals or protected groups.
- Fraudulent listings, phishing, pyramid schemes, advance-fee scams, or deceptive “work from home” or captcha-job offers.
- Malware, hacking tools, or services intended to bypass security (for example unauthorized account unlock or SIM-lock removal).
- Content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other third-party rights.
2. Not supported on Muffin Market
Muffin Market connects business vendors with local customers. The following do not fit our marketplace model (including but not limited to):
- Personal classified-style ads between individuals (“looking to buy” or “looking to sell”) — listings must be from onboarded business vendors.
- Products or services outside categories we support or onboard, unless we explicitly open a category.
- Adult sexual services or explicit pornographic content.
- Gambling, betting, or lottery services where not properly licensed for your region.
- Medical treatment claims or prescription medicines sold without required pharmacy or regulatory authorization.
- Multi-level marketing or recruitment schemes focused primarily on recruitment fees rather than legitimate product sales.
3. Restricted items
These categories may be allowed only when the vendor holds valid licenses, registrations, or approvals required by law, and when Muffin Market permits the category (including but not limited to):
- Food and beverage — compliance with food-safety and hygiene certification bodies and local requirements where applicable.
- Tobacco, vaping products, and alcohol — permitted only where allowed under the laws of the land applicable to the vendor and customer, with all required licenses, age limits, and lawful sales channels observed.
- Weapons, ammunition, and explosives — permitted only where allowed under the laws of the land applicable to the vendor and customer, with all required licenses, permits, and lawful sales channels observed. Instructions to manufacture weapons or explosives are not permitted.
- Live animals — permitted only where allowed under the laws of the land applicable to the vendor and customer, when Muffin Market explicitly permits the category, and with all required licenses, welfare, and transport rules observed.
- Health, beauty, and wellness products — products requiring government approval, pharmacist oversight, or clear labeling under local rules.
- Financial products and services — loans, insurance, investments, or similar offerings that require registration with a financial regulator.
- Hazardous or regulated goods — chemicals, batteries, pressurized containers, or other items subject to transport, storage, or safety regulations.
We may request documentation, restrict display, or remove listings that do not meet these requirements.
4. Enforcement
We may remove, restrict, or disable listings; issue warnings; suspend or terminate vendor accounts; and cooperate with authorities where required by law. Enforcement actions are described in our Terms and Conditions (including Sections 6 and 8).
If we believe a user has violated applicable law, we may report the matter to law enforcement, regulatory authorities, or other competent bodies, and may preserve and disclose relevant account and activity information for that purpose. Where permitted or required by law, we may do so without prior notice to the user concerned.
Customers must not use the Service to solicit prohibited goods or services. Report concerns through the Contact section on our home page or in-app Support.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this page from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, subject to any additional consent required by law. This policy is incorporated into our Terms and Conditions by reference.
